This has been a busy week for me. My successor is onboard and I am busy with “teaching” her all the jobs details.
She is a middle age woman with 3 children – 13,15 and 18 years old (2 girls and a boy). She said she used to work Part Time for 8 years when her children were young and now that they are at these ages, she is ready to return to the workforce.
Looking at her is like a mirror image and I do hope that in 10 years time, I would be able to return to workforce fulltime like her, if I am still marketable...hmm..heard that IR is recruiting all the retirees, housewives and people who want to return to work force. So I hope that by then...I still can work as a “BUNNY AUNTY”...haha.
A few days back I collected all the mails from the letterbox. Among the lot was a BIG envelope from TGPS. Yes, it's Anthea Primary School commencement package. Inside the envelope, there are many different forms:
- Anthea has been allocated to Class Primary 1 ASPIRE. (Talks about 缘在A 字头).. : )
- Pupil data form
- Booklist 2009
- GIRO Form
- Uniform list
- Immunisation requirement
- Child name-tag
- Emergency contact form
- Dental form
The orientation is on 17 November 2008 and I am looking forward to the day to buy all the stuff.

Also i need to shop for her school bag. I am considering one of that Ergonomics Bag for her, not sure if anyone has any feedbacks on such bag.
It's going to be a busy November months with so many activities packed in the pipeline and also I am starting work with a new company/new boss/new environment.
With such busy schedule also meant that the month will pass quickly and counting down to Adrian homecoming will be sooner.

Hi Astee,
The excitement is ON..with the changes coming in place.
Hope all well goes for your family, and Anthea settles herself comfortably in the new environment.
Btw, she has very unique dialect name!
Though Adrian not around, with all the excitements (holiday & orientation) and busy schedule, I'm sure time passes very fast :)
We thought of getting ergonomic bag initially but we didn't. I'm glad we didn't coz if you see the way P1s handle it, you will feel heartache. :) It is not cheap leh... So far, my girl using a My Melody school bag and she is doing fine with it. Nowadays, they have lockers in school so they don't have to carry all the stuffs.
hi Astee
Jus to share based on my own experiences:
Tip #1 - check out the textbook prices at Popular with discount card first - compare the prices. You can opt to buy the exercise bks (with schl logo) and all those fr schl bkshop separately. I did tht cos turn out to be cheaper (slightly).
Tip#2 - get a fren to help you chope a place in the long long queue for the uniforms. Q for uniform more impt.
Tip #3 - buy at least 3 sets of PE attire (tshirt plus shorts) - then not afraid of rainy days. I bought 3 Tops and 2 bottoms then since then, hv been cursing at the sky!
Tip #4 - look for Bata socks! Cotton is best!
Have fun!
Hi Stardreamer,
Thanks for the recommendation, will take a look.
Hi Vivien,
Excitement is building up and i am really looking forward to the new changes in our family lifestyle.
Her name was chosen during the "IT Generation" so that's why it was as such... : P
Hi LZmommy,
Indeed, the bag is not cheap..so that's why need advices.. : P
I don't think Anthea Primary sch has lockers.
Hi Nel,
Thanks trillion for the useful tips.
cheers,
astee
We wanted to get it for Rachel too but we were told its not necessary by the teachers as the students won't be carrying very heavy bag like us last time. All textbooks and activity books are kept in school, even for art. They only bring home worksheets as homework.
Check out with school if they are able to leave the books behind before you decide on such big budget item.
I think ergonomic bags may not be necessary for P1? Ee Zen already "chope-ing" a Ben10 schoolbag and I don't think there is an ergonomic version (if not, should be real expensive). And I personally feel the ergonomic bags look very bulky for P1 kids lor.
His school scheduled the orientation and buying of stuff on different dates so we need to be there at least twice. I'm also thinking the queue to buy uniform and books would be horrible, shall hope the crowd gets lesser by the afternoon! :p
hi mommy charmaine,
thanks for the useful advice, i will check the details on the orientation day.
Hi Brightsong,
So cute, "chop" Ben10 bag already. i saw the bag, yeah, it's bulky but weight wise ok.
I think the school has set a few days to buy books/uniform, so hopefully this helps to make it easier for the parents.
Thanks,
astee
