Nope, it’s not facebook I am talking about…it’s Friendship Bond. Chinese say: 朋友。
Yes, via blogging & babies forum, I had known a few good friends and the friendship bond had been ongoing amid our busy work / family routine.
These few 朋友 are Idy (IT Family), Stardust (All about Vincent) & Clement (Kinigu). Since our very 1st meet up in January 2008, we had been meeting like once a year; it’s also like an AGM…hehe. Since it’s an AGM, of course, there need to be a “Secretary” to take minutes, so I volunteered my service. : P
Since I started working Part time and looking afterAnthea after school needs, lunch meeting is not easy to arrange unless it’s during her school holiday.
Last Thursday when I received an SMS invite from Idy for a lunch meet on Friday, 30 Oct 2009. I told myself I must make an effort to meet them.
So last Friday, after fetching Anthea from school, we made our way to Novena Square for the lunch meet. When we arrived, we were a little late and part of the agenda had been spoken, so I can only partake what was balance on the agenda…: )
Idy – she is currently on a contract and hoping to go on a few months short break before she starts her new term. In her own words, she is facing mid life crisis. Indeed, I had this experience too when Anthea was about to start her primary education. I think it’s a norm for mommies like us who would like to take care of our children after school care needs personally.
There are many logistics issues and arrangement that needed to be settled in order to become a FTSAHM or PTSAHM. So I think all these concerns will make the decision a tough one. That's why she is on the cross-roads. : )
Anyway, I know Idy will find the right answer to her question when her son, Iden ,starts primary school in another 2 years time.
Stardust – she is expecting her No.2 in February 2010 and she is having a baby girl. She is a very pretty expectant mommy and we can see the glow in her face. She also shared with us her experienced on teaching Chinese to her son, Vincent. I know it’s not easy especially when we comes from an English speaking family but talking to them make me realized that I should start to change our language system in our family and introduced a new system.
She is also looking forward to become a PTSAHM when her son starts primary school..hehe.
Seem like more and more mommies are choosing this route.
Clement – he shared with us the progress of Jaimie and how she is becoming more & more ladylike with her new image.
I had never met Angie & Jaimie but by reading their blog, I could tell that this family is a hyper active family and they are always on the GO….there just isn’t a dull moment in their life…I am really envy of their energy level…hee.
The family will be making a short trip to Sunway lagoon for their vacation soon and I am looking forward to reading their wonderful experience.
As for my part, I shared my experienced as a Part time working mommy, it’s not easy rushing up & down but I am glad I am always here for Anthea. To oversee her smooth transition into primary one and also making sure the household needs are taken care of.
It was another very fruitful lunch meet and I am really thankful that each time we had different idea to share with one another.
Another important tip that we got from Clement – there is a $2 coupon saver for purchase of Ovaltine Crunchy drink and I heard the drink is very nice. Must go & find the coupon…hehe.
Last but not least – wishing Stardust all the best in her delivery and till we meet again in our next AGM !!
(ps: I had my camera but was so excited that I forgot to take photo…sigh : P )

“Ah SOHs” meet up – Cycling and makan session @ East Coast Park
One of my long time good friends, Cindy, has a son who is also registering for Primary One this year. Lucky for her, her husband,Dave, is an old boy and alumni of ACS, so needless to say, Angus will definitely get into this school. The other day, I emailed to Cindy and somehow we ended up arranging for a meetup on Saturday for a Cycling session cum dinner @ East Coast Park.
I told Anthea and Anders of our date with Angus kor kor. Both of them were very excited. They had an early nap in the afternoon. When they woke up, both of them were very anxious and kept asking me if we were still going cycling. Reason being there was heavy rain in the early afternoon. I told them: “yes, we are going as the rain had stopped.”
We met with Cindy and her family at the cycling park around 5.45pm. Together we started cycling towards the seafood centre. I had wanted to rent a bicycle which can seat Anders and me while Anthea will ride a kiddy bike on her own. But Anders decided otherwise, he wanted his own bike. So we ended renting 2 kids bikes. Cindy and Dave shared one double bike while Angus rides his own. I am so amazed that Angus had mastered the skills of cycling; he can ride without the additional 2 small wheels to balance. It is very motivating to see him ride on his own, I look forward to the day that Anthea and Anders can do the same.

Adrian jogged along with the cyclists while I walked along with Anders as he still cannot ride as fast as the rest. Anyway it was a beautiful day for cycling as it was very windy and the breeze was cooling. I enjoyed my walk...haha.
After an hour of cycling, we returned the bikes and the children had a quick changed of clothing before we headed off to Jumbo Seafood for our dinner.

Another of my long time good friend, Andrea, joined us for dinner. We had a sumptuous meal of fish, vegetables, meat and of course crab. I enjoyed the dinner very much, not so much because of the food but because of the companionship of my good old friends. At one point when we were taking photos, Dave even commented that it's the gathering of Ah SOHs (阿嫂)。Well, I believe we should be “摩登阿嫂“。哈哈!!

During our school days, we were quite a happening group – we were group of 7 girls and we named ourselves as L.P.A. De Somerset (Levantina Pink Asphalt de Somerset), don’t asked me what it meant, I just knew that it sounded Happenings during the good old days of Centrepoint kids and Far East Break dancers.. : P
Anyway, back to today, we are still in contact and I would always make it a point to be updated with each of them. So far, I am in constant contact with 4 of them. I really hoped that one fine day we can have a reunion of the L.P.A. de Somerset girls.. : )

Our 2nd Lunch Meet
Today i had a very good lunch gathering with Idy, Stardust & Clement again...hee : )
Idy is clearing her leaves and thus she initiated, again, this lunch gathering. Thanks so much, Idy.
Honestly, i truely enjoy my lunch time with these friends, it always seem like we had endless topics to discuss and time is never enough. Since we last met in January, this is our 2nd Lunch meet. This time the venue is none other than Ichiban Sushi @ Novena Square. Both Clement and Stardust working place is near Novena Square. For Idy & myself, it is just one train station away.
As usual, the MAIN TOPIC is CHILDREN...haha.
From Idy - she is going through quite a challenging stage especially with her little Princess - Ilis who sounds to me like a "Heavy Weight " champion of ITF (IT Family). Personally i felt that Idy is a supermom who can self-handled her children as her husband need to travel frequently for work purposes.
From Stardust - she shared with us her Tingkat experiences with Buffet Paradize and now Kim's kitchen, i am waiting for her feedback on her next potential vendor. I also admired her strength of carry her Prince - Vincent in the MRT as she mentioned that he does not like to sit on the MRT seats. Another supermommy !!
From Clement - heard a piece of very good new that his friend Baby is home and Clement had the chance to "jam" his musical talent at his friend place while visiting the family. Clement (& Angelcow) is enjoying their little Princess - Jaimie. I can feel his LOVE for Jaimie especially when he expressed how he enjoy his little chats with his little Princess at bedtime. She is indeed so Loveable, whenever i read their blogs, it just sent a smile to my face. Great Daddy.
From me - i shared mainly my concern on Ander's being toilet trained. I was telling them that Anders requested not to wear pampers at night, but LAZY ME...still insisted that he wears them. I really need my sleep..lazy excuses..haha. I will try when my mental is ready to take the challenge : P
See what i mean when i said our TOPIC was mainly about children. But learning from different parenting style sometimes give us an insight of how we can do the same and if certain theory may suit our own family lifestyle. There is no right/wrong or SOP to parenting. I know whatever we do, we do it out of LOVE for the family & CHILDREN.
Last but not least : "Clement, THANK YOU For the LUNCH!!!".
ps: Next Gathering, we must take a photo..hee.

新朋友
After my meet up with Idy, we have been keeping in touch via sms/msn and emails. It was very kind of her to initiate another lunch meet up and this time, she introduced 2 blogging mommy/daddy to me.
The 2 bloggers cum forumers are – Clement of Kinigu and Stardust of All that Glitters about Vincent.
We arranged to meet in Toa Payoh for lunch as both their offices are nearby.
It was a choice between Botak Jones & Tim’s café. As I had been to both places, I would think Tim’s café is a better place for meet up. Botak Jones is set up in a factory canteen, so may not be easy to get seats.
So with this in mind, I made a table reservation at Tim’s for 4 of us.
This is the 2nd time I am meeting Idy and 1st time for Clement and Stardust.
As usual, it was of no surprised to me that we chatted as if we knew each others before. The main reason is because we have been following each other blogs quite closely.
It was childcare information exchange session and there were so many tips that we shared during the one hour lunch.
For lunch, I had the house special – Nepalese special oven roasted chicken, food was nice but due to shortage of time, we can’t really order more.
I had a very good time and glad to know new friends and i look forward to the next lunch or forums gathering.
真开心能够 认识 新朋友!!
(ps: hi guys, you can now LINK it up...hee : )

Gatherings weekends
This had been a busy weekends of gatherings for the aces family.
On Saturday, one of Adrian colleagues invited us to his house for a lunch gathering. His colleague stayed in one of the Condominum in Punggol and it faced the punggol park.
At the gathering, we had a sumptous lunch of friend bee hoon, chicken curry, fish fritters, prawn fritters and nice dessert of cakes and drinks. Adrian had requested that i baked a dozen of the chocolate chip muffins for the gathering. So we do not go empty handed..hee : )
Both Anthea and Anders had fun at the gathering, there were few other colleagues who brought along their children, so all the children had fun playing with the owner's dog. At the gathering, i also get to linked faces to names that Adrian had mentioned to me. These are all the people that worked hand in hand, sweat to sweat in Sudong Island.
We left the place in the late afternoon for the children to have their nap before joining the extended families for dinner.
My MIL used her hotel membership and booked a room for a weekend stay in Fairmont Singapore. During my last gathering with my Travel friends, i was told that Fairmont groups had bought over Raffles The Plaza hotel. This is the 1st Fairmont Hotel in Singapore. The Fairmont Hotel is nicely furbished compared to the old Raffles the Plaza, as i can remembered it.
Anthea room in with my parents in law on the weekends, she was so happy.
On Sunday morning, we brought Anders to the hotel to meet up with my MIL and Anthea. Adrian watched over Anders in the swimming pool when i had my 1 hour gym workout. The gym facilities was really good and the spa was equally top class. Too bad i didn't bring my costume to do the jacuzzi... : )
After our swim and gym, we packed up and checked out of the hotel and headed towards CPE to fetch my FIL.
We sent them back and then headed to Adrian's buddy place for a gathering. His buddy's - Ong celebrated his daughther 1st Year Old birthday. We brought along a present for Baby Cheryl. Ong didn't tell us about the celebration, he just mentioned that it was a gathering. Luckily, i still remember that Pauline delivered some time last year...hee. So looking at my blog entry, indeed, Cheryl was borned on 30 Dec 2006. Cheryl is a chubby little girl and so cute.
Ong stayed in one of the condominium in AMK, both Anthe and Anders had so much fun at the children playground.
Life in a condominium is good with so many facilities within reach... : )
Well, we can only dream of it and hopefully if one day, strike Toto or Big sweep....IF. haha : )

Thomas & Friend Live Show & My Gathering.
This has been a super busy weekends for Aces Family.
On Sat afternoon, we were target to watch another Live show, it's none other than Thomas, the train show. The show took place on our own turf - AMK HUB, so there is no excuse to miss it.
So after a light lunch of porridge, we walked over to the hub to Q for the show. We reached there around 12.15pm and there was almost 50 people infront of us. So we joined in the Q.
As usual, the show started at 1 pm, with the introduction of the show by the Fat Controller. It was an entertaining 30 minutes after and after the show, Anthea and Anders had the chance to take a photo on the stage with the character. They were so happy.
After taking photo, we went to the 3rd storey for the Train ride. Purchase above $50 at any shop in the HUB, the children had a chance to take a ride round the shops.
Due to the Christmas festive, there are many events happening in the Hub and Friday night, it was a late night shopping event. Also Santa Claus was going around distributing goodies with Miss Santa.. : )
Saturday dinner was with the families at California Pizza Kitchen, after a nice meal of Pizzas and salad, Terence & Cherry brought the children to Toy R Us to shop for their X'mas presents. Terence laid down a condition for them - They can only open their presents on X'mas day.
Now both of them are waiting patiently for the 25 Dec..hee : )
On Sunday, a group of my ex-colleagues from my travel industry days came to my place for a small gathering. We had such a wonderful catching up with one another. There were altogether 7 of us so it is equivalent to 2 markets (三个女人,一个巴刹).
We chatted non-stop about our current affairs and reminisced about those good old days. We have been friends for almost 15 years.
Time passed so fast and now we are all doing different jobs with a few still in the same industry.

1st Meet Up
I have been following a Baby Forum for quite a while now. It is the BayB Supplies site. I have enjoyed the topics been discussed on this forum and most of them are closely related to our Aces Family daily lifestyle.
Through this forum, I have benefited much namely:
1. I engaged our dinner tingkat through recommendation of this forum.
2. I learnt about the behavior of children of different ages – these are real children and not just reading through books.
3. Find good lobangs - nice and affordable purchases
4. Hands down some of my children stuff to mommies/daddies
5. Last but not the least, got to know a lot of bloggers mommies & daddies.
I find that mommies/daddies who write in this forum are very since and friendly. Of course, sometime, they may be critical in certain topics/issues but from their words, they meant well for the other parties.
I have personally been in contact with Idy from IT Family, via sms & msn since we hooked up. She is now on leaves before she starts her new job mid November. We arranged to meet for lunch today. We met at the MRT and headed to Novena Square for Lunch.
I must say, although this is the 1st time we met but we were able to chat quite easily and happily, it’s like we were friends for a long time. We had a nice Japanese Lunch at Ichiban and at lunch we share so much information on child caring. Idy asked me to join them for the next gathering and I know it will be fun to meet all the wonderful people.
After lunch, Idy went off to run her errands as her IT family is going on a KL/Genting drive tomorrow.
As for me.. knowing that there is a new Donut Factory outlet, how can I resist NOT Buying. The counter was big and no Q, so I bought ½ dozen of them. This outlet even has a café for people to order in to eat & drink coffee, good concept. Then I proceeded to Cold Storage to buy some baking stuff, hoping to bake some muffins on Deepavali.

Waving Good Times & Yum CHA
On Saturday morning, it was very bright & sunny, thus i told Adrian that we should bring the children to the Civil Service Club for a swim. He agreed and off we we went to Bukit Batok CSC. Anthea and Anders were all excited when i told them to change into their swimming costumes.
We reached the pool around 10 plus and we were in time - the wave pool started almost immediately when we went in the water. Anthea was so happy and we rented a rubber tube to sit on while the waves was on. Anders was still a bit frightened of the waves so he was on safe side of the pool all the while..hehe.

The wave lasted almost a good half and hour, during this time, father & daughter had so much fun playing with the waves. Seeing them enjoyed so much reminded me of the Sunway trip. This is a mini version of "sunway lagoon"...haha.
After the wave stopped, Anthea and Anders went to the playgroud pool which had slides and waterguns. They had so much fun there as well, shooting the water at adrian.
We played for a good 1 hour before we stopped to shower and headed home for lunch. On our way home, Anthea told Adrian that she wants to go Goat Farm next week and Adrian agreed readily. He then told me that we should plan more Saturdays outings like this for the children.
Secretly i told myself : yeah, all these while,i wanted to do all these Family Outings but most of them time it was because of him that we can't make it. Since now that i have his blessings, i will put on 5th gear for the weekends... : P
Dinner was at Swissotel Merchant Court with the extended families. My MIL invited her brother and sister's families to join us for the buffet dinner. As usual, Anthea and Anders were looking forward to meet their Uncle MK and they had a good time playing Hide & seek, catching etcs by the river. The families had a good time sharing all their travelling updates, especially for Hokkaido.
There was a wedding banquet at the hotel Ballroom and Anthea saw 3 pretty flower girls and she told Cherry that she wanted to be her flower girl at their wedding. Terence and Cherry will be getting married next May 2008 and their wedding banquet will be held in the same hotel.

Today Adrian is on his Sunday work duty and i am home with Anthea & Anders. My eldest brother called and asked us to join for lunch together with him and my parents. He brought us to http://www.xinwang.com.sg/ @ Marina Square. It was a good choice.
We ordered few dishes to try and the noodles dishes were very good. I had a cup of "yuan-yang" and it was as good as the one that i drank in Hong Kong cafe. For dessert, we had the "ah-ballings" with ginger drink and seasame paste. I Loved the one with ginger because it has the taste of my mom's "tang yuan" ginger drink. The seasame paste is a bit too diluted.
After lunch, we walked around Marina Square and i discovered that there are now so many new eateries and shops there. I told myself that i must take a day off and slowly explored the place, without children in tow..hee.
We left for home after a quick purchased of a notebook bag at JL sale. On the way home, dage even went by to the famous Rochor Beancurd to packed the beancurd and he bought 2 boxes for us. We reached home about 3.30 pm.
We had dinner with our parents in law and Louis family at Akira Japanese Restaurant which is now located at the Link Hotel, 50 Tiong Bahru Road, Link Hotel #01-01 Singapore 168733Tel : 6738-6221 ). This restaurant was one of our family usual hangout when it was located near Orchard road.
Another relaxing weekends with the families.

Superb Sun(daes)
Recently via a BB Forumn, i discovered a new brand of ice cream called Ice Cream Chef. Highly recommended by some forumn mommies, so i want to give it a go - i ordered 6 pints of different flavors ice cream - Durian, Mangoes, Oreo & Cream, Nutella Delight, Chocolate & hershey and Nutty Peanut Butter. It was delivered in the morning and Anthea and Anders simply love them. They had them after lunch and dinner. Adrain was home to look after the 2 A's.
.jpg)
I had a lunch appointment at New York, New York cafe in AMK Mall with my group of cousins. As one of my cousin, Herng, is back in Singapore for her summer break from Scotland, so we had to meet up while she is in town. So 5 of us met up for lunch and we had a very good time chatting and catching up with one another happening.
.jpg)
At 5.15pm, i had to go back home to prepare dinner. Adrian had decided to ground both Anthea and Anders for this week due to some incident that happened yesterday at the Sheraton hotel. So we had dinner at home. Simple home cooked food - Chicken feet with Black bean soup, fried batang fish and vegetable. I bought 1/2 a duck on my way home.
After dinner, dessert was none other than my Ice Cream chef ice cream ...it was YUMMY!!!

During lunch, we saw from the dinning place that Mediacorp was filming some program at the mall. I saw one of my IDOL - Bryan Wong. I simply adored his hosting skills and find him to be very talented. So i went to "star search" and my younger cousins were all laughing at me... : P

(photo is a bit blurred but that the closest i can get to him)
After lunch, we adjourned to Mac Cafe for drinks and continued to yak & yak away. Although our age difference is quite BIG but i am really glad that there is no generation gap between me & my cousins. We can literally talk about anything under the sky. Time passed so fast while you are enjoying it.

This is another nice and relaxing Superb Sunday for me.
