"Lobangs"- “ 特惠家族”

This is a weekends of "Lobangs" for the family.

Friday's Lobang : Anthea's 1st Tooth drops

In the evening, when I reached home, Anthea told me "mommy, I want to show you something.” Then she showed me the thing. It took me a while to find the thing as it was quite camouflaged among the papers. Finally I saw it...it was one of her Front tooth and it has finally dropped. It has been shaky for the last few weeks and there is few more now waiting to come out. So that her permanent teeth will start to set in.

Saturday Lobangs: 3 Crabs @ Jumbo NSRCC

My extended families and we are great supporters of any discount vouchers or restaurants that had special card promotions because we dined out on weekends. Last Saturday we went all the way to Jumbo Seafood restaurant @ NSRCC in Changi, simply because my PIL had a $50 discount vouchers which can be used at selected outlets. We were a table of 10 + 1 infant. We ordered 3 CRABS (steam, chilli & pepper – my personal preference is still the steam crab). This is the 1st time our families ordered 3 crabs instead of the usual 2. It was a very good crabby meal with other nice dishes.

Then what happened next is really our “catch” – the captain gave us another $100 cash certificates for our next visit to ANY Jumbo restaurants. And the plus point is no minimum orders required, so you can use on any amount for your bill. FIL already made plan that we shall eat at Jumbo@Dempsey as this will be their latest outlet due to open on 21 April 2008. This time I think we can make it 4 CRABS… : )

Sunday Lobangs: My Dinner Dress & UOB Voucher

As mentioned in my previous blog that I would need to get a decent evening dress for the wedding dinner. After a good prata breakfast and coffee. I told Adrian that I would like to visit Celia Loe’s boutique @ Thomson Plaza. Also we can do our groceries shopping at NTUC and have lunch at the food court. So it is hitting 3 birds with a stone.

Down the memory lane a little – I bought my ROM Dress from Celia Loe’s boutique almost 10 years ago. And also I bought a dinner dress from Celiana for my best friend – Cindy’s wedding dinner. So whenever I need a nice and classy dinner dress, I would consider Celia Loe’s boutique.

Back to shopping, so at the shop, I tried a few dresses recommended by the Sales associates and Anthea. After trying them, it seem that all felt that the 1st dress was the best match for the occassion,. When I saw the price tag, I had 2nd thoughts but Adrian said to go ahead. The sales associate seems to read my mind and asked if we had HSBC Card as there is a 10% discount.
I remembered that my MIL has a HSBC Card, so Adrian tried calling her and asked her for the favor. However I knew that she was babysitting my little niece, so I told Adrian, we can reserved the dress and come back on a weekday. Then later Adrian received a call from my BIL and he said he was on the way to meet us but as the Car park at the plaza was full, they could not drive in. Arrangement was made for my SIL to meet us at the boutique to make the payment for us. I was so grateful and thankful for their immediate activation to our call…and paiseh to make them rush down just to pay for the dress… : P

Due to their kindness, we enjoyed the 10% discount for the dress. I think it’s still a bit expensive but luckily recently we received our ERS from the Govt, so it helps to bring down the guilt level. Now that I bought my dress, I would need to buy a pair of matching shoes...hee : P

Dinner was at Crystal Jade Golden Restaurant @ Paragon as my FIL had the UOB $50 redemption voucher. (Didn’t I say we are STRONG SUPPORTERS Of vouchers). As usual the food quality was very good and we had an enjoyable dinner.

At Paragon Metro, I managed to get a pair of shoes for Anthea to match her dinner dress, so her mission is accomplished.
We took a stroll at the basement of Paragon and surprisingly there was an Ah-Mei Café in the building. We had cups of teas and chat at the café. Everyone is now very excited and looking forward to the event of the year.

Discovering Dempsey Hills & KFC..

The latest “Eat of the town” must be Dempsey Hill. Last Saturday we had dinner at one of our family favorite seafood restaurant – Marina Seafood restaurant. They had shifted from Marina South to Dempsey Hill and last Saturday was their 1st day of Business Operation. What a coincidence.

Every new set up will face some kind of setbacks and we had our 1st experience at it. When Adrian ordered white rice (2nd round) the waitress told us the the kitchen had ran out of rice and they were cooking a new batch so it took a while to get the rice.

The waitress was serving us Chinese tea. I was shocked that she poured Chinese tea into a soup bowl in front of me. When I pointed out to her that it was a bowl, she still gave me a very confused look…ha-ha.

Anyway, all these didn’t dampen our mood and luckily the standard of the food was still as good. Both Anthea and Anders had a good time eating the Steam Crab.

The new design are into Zen and overall effect are quite good. As usual, our favorite Manager, Ms Priscilla, is there to serve us ,with her trademark smile.

On Sunday morning, Adrian fetched Anthea and my MIL to the CSC for their morning swim. They had a nice lunch at Tim’s café. This place will soon become our family regular hangout at the rate that we are visiting the café.

The children had their afternoon nap. Dinner was at Kentucky Fried Chicken as Anthea requested for home delivery. However, we decided to dine at the restaurant since we wanted more orders and also need to top up some groceries after dinner at the NTUC Extra.

This is the 1st time Anders had KFC and I was surprised that he truly enjoyed his meal. Finger licking good and both of them kept saying “we enjoy life hor...”

I love this kind of moment when the family eat together and share all the joy /fun of having a simple meal.

After dinner, we went by to the NTUC extra to stock up on the children’s stuff. Then we headed home to have an early rest as Adrian need to take the 4am ferry to Sudong Island this morning.

Aces Arcade

Another wonderful & funfilled weekends.

On Saturday, we had dinner at Crystal Jade Palace in Paragon. It was our first time to the resturant and i simply love the ambience and of course, FOOD. As we were being seated in a private room area, service was Excellent. We had about 3 - 4 waitresses waiting around our table. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable dinner as both Anthea & Anders behaved well during dinner.

After dinner, we brought the children to TOY R US...but it was closed. It was 9pm ans the shop closed at 9 PM. Anders was very disappointed. The main reason for his good behaviour is because we promised to bring him to see toys after dinner. Luckily for us, Metro Paragon is still opened, so we headed to the toy area to satisfied his needs.

We were walking and looking at all the toys. Then there was a TV Arcade game. Anthea tried the game and she loves it. It had many different kind of games. So we bought the game for the children. It was late when we reached home so they did not played with it.

On Sunday morning, the first thing they asked for is the arcade game. So adrian plugged it on for them, the 2 of them had a good time.

Mother-in-law left for Kuala Lumpur for her 3 days conference in KLCC. My brother and parents will be leaving for a week of holiday in China next Sunday.

Dinner was da-bao food and we ate at Louis & Eve's place- Louis bought Uncle Leong's crab, Terence and Cherry bought Pork ribs and vegetables for Hong Kong Man from Casurina Road, Aces Family bought satays and Ice Cream chef Nutella Delight.

Another nice spread of food and good time of chilling out.
After dinner, the children were anxious to go home to play with their new toy.
Note: On Friday, the D&D Commitee brought in some costumes for the HODs to try out and my GM gamely tried one of them. (btw, this is my inspiration for going to work...hee : P )

Integrity & Words of Wisdom

This is another eventful weekends. For Saturday morning while Adrian brought the Anthea and Anders to the playgroup to rid them of their ‘adrenalin pump’, I did my house chores in peace. After that I prepared their lunches. As each of them has different likings, so I need to prepared 2 set of lunches.

1. Anthea – mashed potatoes with hotdogs
2. Anders – lean pork meat with dried scallop porridge

Verdict – both of them enjoyed their lunches…thanks goodness.

After lunch, both of them played a while at the neighbour’s house and then have their afternoon nap. Dinner was with the extended families at Jack’s Place. Think its must be the Father’s Day celebration, the place was so crowded. Service was so lagging and I have to ask for the sour cream and beacon bits 2 times before they brought it to our table. Didn’t enjoyed the dinner much as Anders was giving me some “problems”, so after dinner, I brought him home.

On Sunday, we went to view a 5 room flat. This unit is in the same block as my in-laws. The Aces family is considering upgrading our home to a bigger unit. However I think it is the wrong timing. Now it’s the PROPERTY BOOM time, just like 7 years ago when we bought our current home.

We met dad on the ground floor when he came back from his usual Sunday badminton session. He was giving us his advice on the unit that we saw. He was saying, “It’s good to consider upgrading, as the children will be growing big”. We knew dad always belief: In life, you must always upgrade yourself, and then you will
become a better person.

Back to the house, we viewed and liked the house but the asking price is way above our budget, so we have just have to wait till the next chance. When I called the agent to check with her regarding the flat, the agent was telling me that the owner had now changed her/his mind. They are now asking for more monies to sell their flat. We were shocked because the agent mentioned that someone did already match the owner asking price, so now GREED has got into the owner.

So now I am asking this question: when you are talking about MONIES, people lost their integrity and their Belief. We saw that there were religion signs places all over the house and in front on the door. Sigh…what more can we say.

For dinner, we went to Metropole Herbal restaurant, another wonderful dinning experience. Good meals and a lot of information being shared. Looking forward to this Friday outing… :)

Fruit of Labour Day

Labour Day is supposing to be a Public holiday.

Since my recent promotion, labour day means doing domestic labor work. I managed to sweep and mop the house, cooked lunch for children, do ironing and washed the family car.

As it rained, so I could not bring the children to the park as previously planned. They stayed home and watched children programs on Kids Central while I busied at work.

In the morning, I went to the wet market nearby and bought some ingredients to cook mee soup for lunch, as both of them wanted that for lunch.

Following some good recipe from Wokking mom’s blog, I managed to cook up a Prawn with slice pork noodles. I added fish balls as well since both Anthea and Anders love fish balls.

Both of them love the noodles and Althea even asked for extra helping. This really makes my effort worthwhile.

After lunch, they powered nap and in the late afternoon, they played at our neighbour’s house as there is an older schooling boy.

Another of our neighbour gave us a portion of Vinegar Pig’s Trotters. We had it for dinner. This aunty makes very delicious 猪腳醋. Adrian and I enjoyed it very much.

In the evening after dinner, I brought Anthea and Anders to AMK Mall. As the new bus interchange is functional, we took a bus from the bus stop near our block. The bus brought us right into the mall. Simply so efficient and the children love it. We went MacDonald’s for Sundae and cake, both of them kept telling me “mommy, we are enjoying life…” simple words but it meant so much.

After dessert, we went to NTUC Extra and bought their milk powder. Then we took a bus home.

Life will never be the same again with this new bus interchange.

Uncle Louis is home...

On Saturday morning, i went to Anthea and Anders childcare for the Curriculum orientation. This is for the K2/K1/Nursary classes. For Toddles and playgroup, it will take place this coming Saturday. I must admit this NTUC Childcare is putting in GREAT Effort in communicating all these informations to the parents. It makes me be aware of what the 2A's are learning in the 4 Terms of school.

As for Adrian, his morning session was busied with Servicing the car, renewing road tax, paying bills etcs.

The 2 A's were occupied with the coloring things at home while watching the usual Saturday morning dose of Kids Central - Tom & Jerry, Winx Club, Justeriser etcs.

After the orientation session, i went home and all of them were having their power nap, as it was a very cool afternoon.

UNCLE LOUIS IS HOME... so

dinner was at Hua Ting, Orchard Hotel. As mom has some balance vouchers which are expiring end January 2007, we were lucky to tag-along for this sumptous dinner. We had red wine and durian cake for the entitlement. For our meal, there were Peking duck, Boiled soups, Sweet & sour slice fish, Prawns etcs. The food was really very very good.

Sunday morning is the usal routine for the Aces Family, now that Louis is back for these 2 weeks, anthea is looking forward to swimming at SAFRA MT Faber. She likes this place the most among all the choices.

Adrian and myself attended Ong and Pauline's Baby girl full month luncheon. Her name is Cheryl Ong. As usual, it was a good time catching up with all his buddies and they had planned for Chinese New Year gathering.

Dinner with the family was at Guan Hin. As Louis and Eve has not been there, so dad introduced the place to them. After dinner, we headed to King Albert's Park MacDonald for the children to enjoyed life. Anders is still not fully recovered, so no ice-cream for both of them.

Rainy and lazy weekends

Saturday, 13 January..

It has been raining since Friday and weather was very cold and nice. In the morning after breakfast, we brought Anthea and Anders to Thomson Plaza. The 2 main purpose is to go to the self laudry to dry the towels and some clothings, also to stock up groceries from the NTUC. The Hypermart is AMK is simply too BIG and not very ideal when you have children in toll.

The Dryers in the laudrette was fully booked and the person in charge said it will take some hours, so i decided that will bring back to air dry.

We shopped in the NTUC and also walked around the plaza. The children always enjoyed sitting on those rides..even though we did not put any coins into the rides.

After lunch, the children napped and the weather was really really nice.

Dinner was with Dad,mom and Terence at Guan Hin Teochew restaurant at Whampoa West. It is a small family restaurant and served very authentic and delicious teochew food.

After dinner, we brougth Anders to the AMK Garden MacDonald to enjoy life. Anthea follow ye-ye and nai nai to 716 where Terence get ready for his flight to Manchester. He will be in Europe for 4 weeks, leisure cum work. Cherry is also in Europe for about the 2 weeks plus. They will be touring around.

We brought Anders home after MacDonald and met up with the rest and set for Changi Airport. Terence's flight departs around 11.55pm, so we went to Airport for a cuppa and desserts.

All the best to Terence on his "Operation Hardrock" and we look forward to hearing good news from Europe in about a week time.

Sunday, 14 January

For the 2 days, it has been relaxing for anders and i want him to forget about the stress. As it was raining, we could not do much outdoor event, so we played puzzle/toys at home and do colorings. He enjoyed himself and i hoped that next week, he will be able to adapt better.

Anthea and Anders are looking forward to Aunty Eve's homecoming. Eve is scheduled to arrives on Monday morning around 6am. Likely, we will have chance to meet up in the evening if she is not suffering from jetlag.

As Eve is back in SG, she will need the laptop to keep in touch with Louis, who is still in USA. We returned the Eve's laptop to 716. So now Aces Family is really "Lap-topless"...hee .. : P
